The PPP candidate submitted a petition with the signatures of 30 members, which led the Senate Secretariat to issue a notification to his Leader of the Opposition.
Yousuf Raza Gilani was also supported by four independent senators, including Senator Dilawar Khan, Senator Ahmed Khan, Senator Kahdi Babar, and Senator Naseebullah Baazi.
