When extension was given to Bajwa, our ‘Vote Ko Izzat Do’ narrative was buried: Capt (R) Safdar

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, Captain (retired) Safdar Awan, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated that he does not foresee Maryam Nawaz becoming the Prime Minister in the near future. Safdar criticized the PML-N’s “vote ko izzat do” narrative and stated that it was buried when the party voted to extend the term of former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa, except for Pervaiz Rasheed. Safdar claimed that whoever voted for Bajwa’s extension were “convicts”.

He also spoke about former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and how he was “challenged” and later “deceived” by some party leaders. Safdar vowed to expose the individuals responsible for “deceiving” Sharif.

In response to a question, Safdar emphasized the importance of loyalty among parliamentarians and stated that it is wrong to switch political affiliations for the sake of power. He suggested that elections in the provinces of Punjab and KP be delayed and that general elections be held in 2025 after the economy has recovered.

Finally, Safdar expressed regret for his personal attacks on Imran Khan and stressed that political rivalry should remain just that, not personal. He stated that everyone has shortcomings in life and these should not be exploited in a political context.
