Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has said effective implementation of energy conservation measures could help mitigate the country’s energy woes.
Federal Minister for S & Tech said this while chairing a meeting of all stakeholders of electrical appliances. Chairman OGRA, MD NEECA, Representatives of the private sector from the leading producer of appliances like fans, electric motors, and geysers were present in the meeting.
Federal Minister highlighted that we have been wasting valuable energy resources by using sub-standard products, which, besides harming the country’s economy, fall heavy on consumers’ pockets. He emphasized that all the appliances, especially fans, electric motors, and geysers, must meet the minimum requirements of energy-efficient products. During the meeting, progress on the decisions taken in the earlier session was also reviewed.
Moreover, different proposals and measures to ensure the production of energy-efficient appliances in the country were also discussed. Federal Minister reiterated that the public and private sectors must join hands in this important task because, without cooperation and ownership of manufacturer, it would not be possible to implement this policy.
Representatives of the private sector present in the meeting assured their full cooperation. Federal Minister gave specific targets and directions to the different organizations, including NEECA, OGRA, PSQCA, PCSIR, and NIE, in this regard.
